CPA & Consultant for Accounting Firms
The system is finally written down
Happy Frye-Day.
The Playbook is live. I took a few passes to get it right, and I almost put a price tag on it before deciding free made more sense, but we're finally here.
My Big 3: a CRM. Recorded calls. Paid upfront.
That's the whole operating discipline. I put it into every firm I work with directly. The Playbook is that same discipline, written into a week-by-week system, so you can run it yourself without me in the room.
Something to keep in mind: a half-finished week still counts. If you miss one, don't restart. Just pick up on the next page. Give it a try.
What to do this week:
• Get the Playbook. Weekly cash flow snapshots, real priorities, thirteen weeks of an actual system.
• Read the three Foundation pages first. They set your goal and your vision before week one even starts.
• If you're referral-only and stuck, start this Monday. Don't wait for a better week. There isn't one.

From the feed
I've been thinking about the old pyramid model firms run on: a wide base of junior staff, a thin layer of partners at the top. AI's flipping that into a diamond instead. The diamond means a smaller entry level, a bigger middle layer doing the real judgment work, and partners on advisory. The line that stuck with me: the middle becomes the engine of the firm, less production and more interpretation.
New app I'm watching
Not exactly new. I used Ignition about ten years ago, then drifted away from it. This week I came back and set it up again for my consulting retainers, after hitting a wall with Anchor's KYB/KYC process, a leftover snag from moving from Canada to the US. Ignition handles proposals, engagement letters, billing, and payment collection, built for firms like ours. 👉
(This isn't an ad. Nobody's paying me to say this. Yet.)
That's it for this week. Get the Playbook and give it a try.
