CPA & Consultant for Accounting Firms

Hello from Denver and Xerocon

Happy Frye-Day.

I made it to Denver for my second Xerocon ever, the first in about 10 years since I went to Atlanta. I also presented to the Texas CPA Society this week, so it was a full one. Here is Lara and I posing with the Bears in front of the convention hall at the Colorado Convention Center.

On the floor

The advancements with Xero keep coming. Embedded payroll powered by Gusto, a Lego station on the expo floor, and the whole retro gas station display with a classic car.

But a major highlight for me was seeing the CEO of Xero interview Andre Agassi, who shared some great insights. I often find the sports stars to be a little unrelatable, but a quote that really stuck with me is something he said about "I'd rather be committed to a bad plan than uncommitted to a good plan," or something along those lines.

The people

I met up with old and new friends all week. Seth Fineberg, Christine Triantos, my friend Lara Laxo, J Meredith, and Chad Sae-lee, my boss.

I also recorded a podcast with Kenji Kuramoto, who I've been following for a long time and is now at Basis.

Ramp hosted a happy hour at a lounge overlooking Union Station, and we sadly watched the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies.

Back to the Playbook

Last issue, I shared the Playbook. This week, more about what's inside before you start Week 1.

Three Foundation pages at the beginning: your long-term vision, your 3-year business vision, and the 13-week commitment you're signing your name to.

Monday is 10 minutes to write your revenue goal and set your top 3 priorities. Friday is 15 minutes for your cash flow snapshot and pipeline.

That's the whole rhythm.

And remember: a half-finished page still counts. Miss a week, don't restart. Just pick up on the next one.

That's it from Denver. If you started the Playbook already, reply and tell me how the Foundation pages went. I read every one.
